So I’m a solicitor which means that I provide legal advice to clients. I’m a disputes focused solicitor so I provide advice when someone’s got a dispute with a business partner or they’ve got a problem with a contract maybe they can’t meet a deliverable they’ve got to do and they would come to us explain their legal problem and we’d help them try and resolve it and if it can’t be resolved just through a few letters back and forth we would commence either court proceedings or arbitration proceedings and then we would run the case through to either a settlement or a resolution in court and hopefully get a positive result for our clients. In terms of my day to day responsibilities I prepare a lot of advice and would put that either in an email or a letter so I would, in order to do that I would research I’d go away and look at all of the legal books that I need to use and then I would set out my advice in an email. I would also be responsible for writing articles for managing court cases and thinking about deadlines and making sure that everyones ready for any upcoming work that we’ve got. And in terms of who I work with within my team there’s more senior and more junior lawyers I also work with barristers, foreign lawyers and service providers so for instance we have an external IT service provider, yeah.
